The inclusion of mandatory qualifications for housing managers within the Social Housing Regulation Act highlights the growing importance of professionalism within the sector. Everyone working in housing organisations need to have the right skills, experience and knowledge to deliver high quality services for tenants and residents. This session will look at how far we’ve come to professionalise the sector, and where we should focus now:  

• What is expected of housing officers on the frontline, and do they have access to the support and training required to succeed?  
• Understanding what the professional qualifications for housing management mean for staff retention
• Is a more pragmatic approach to professionalism in the sector needed?
