Community-led housing is a growing movement whereby future or existing residents contribute to the design and development of new housing to meet their longer term needs.
This approach has been used successfully in small-scale development projects across the country but what will it take to become part of mainstream housing delivery?
This session will explore the difference between community-led housing and more conventional consultation processes. Crucially, members are involved in decisions over the lifetime of the project, beyond punctuated moments of ‘inclusion’. What conditions are required to maximise chances of success and how do you overcome common barriers?
