With a recent English Housing Survey estimating that half of social households have at least one member with a long-term illness or disability, this session will explore how the sector can better listen to, engage and support tenants with a disability to live independently in a suitable home.
Are we doing all we can to routinely consider accessibility when developing new homes and improving existing stock? How do we ensure that the voice and experiences of disabled residents are at the centre of decisions over services that will impact their lives?
This session will consider the experiences of those living with a wide range of disabilities whether physical, cognitive or sensory. It will consider the right level of adjustments to engagement methods to ensure their views are listened to and acted upon. Come and hear about the commitments that landlords in the sector are making to improve the lives of disabled tenants and what you can learn from them.
