The urgency of housing an ageing population grows each year as supply fails to keep pace with rising demand and existing housing stock is unsuitable for many. Over the last year, a National Older People’s Housing Taskforce has scrutinised the enablers and barriers to increasing the choice, quality and security of housing for older people. This session will review their resulting recommendations and whether they offer the solutions that the sector and residents so urgently need. 

Discussion agenda will include: 

•    Understanding demographic changes that are taking place in society – what do older people want and need? 
•    What are the National Taskforce’s recommendations and are they the right focus? 
•    How would the sector implement and fund the recommendations
