The urgency of housing an ageing population grows each year as supply fails to keep pace with rising demand and existing housing stock is unsuitable for many. This discussion will explore the enablers and barriers to increasing the choice, quality and security of housing for older people.
Discussion agenda will include:
- Understanding demographic changes that are taking place in society – what do older people want and need?
- Do we need a national strategy for housing older people and what should that look like?
- How do we develop sustainable financial business models and continue to deliver value for money in the face of rising cost pressures?
- How do we inspire mainstream landlords to put Specialist Housing back into development programmes in a meaningful way?
- What are the opportunities for a potential new government to seize in 2024?
