Cost of living pressures, poor housing conditions and government cutbacks to support services are all factors that may have exacerbated mental health issues for tenants and residents in recent years. Mental ill health can put pressure on tenancy sustainment, leading to a variety of issues such as rent arrears or anti-social behaviour. This session will explore how to ensure landlords have the right skills within their organisations to respond to mental health issues. How can you better identify, understand and support those who may be experiencing mental ill health?

Housing providers can’t do this alone so we will shine a light on those organisations who are successfully collaborating within their organisations and with external agencies to increase independence, sustain tenancies and support residents in their recovery. What working processes can be embedded internally to make a real difference to lives? How can you support the mental health of employees to better equip them to support tenants?
