Darren McGarvey is a Scottish writer, rapper, and activist who grew up in a deprived housing estate in Glasgow. He is the Orwell Prize-winning author of Poverty Safari, which explores the anger and alienation of the underclass.

Darren also performs as Loki, a hip hop artist who tackles social issues and challenges stereotypes. In this session, he brings his own perspective, insight and analysis – along with humour and humanity – on the complex topics of poverty and power.
